a city-dweller facing the new demands of being a country cop. He grew up in Aidensfield and, transferring from Middlesborough,
he’s returning home. When new recruit PC Rob Walker transfers from Middlesborough to Ashfordly, Alf Ventress nearly

wrong side of the law.

Claude Jeremiah
Greengrass,
Aidensfield's larger-than-life
layabout and petty criminal, Whenever there are shady
doings in Aidensfield, Claude is likely to have his fingers in the pie. Originally a supporting character, Claude and his
lurcher Alfred now feature prominently in the series. Claude
has at least one brother and His sister Bella An early but very popular storyline: After a big win in the lottery, Claude
buys a huge pink American car a Cadillac Claude’s encounter with the new bobby Mike Bradley is more ambiguous (Mike at first believed that he was involved
in an armed robbery!) - But as Mike learns more about him and realises that he’s only a small time villain their relationship
becomes more friendly and they’re not adverse to have a pint or two together in the Aidensfield Arms! He enjoys his
lifestyle and loves his scruffy lurcher companion Alfred - whom when it comes down to it he cares about most. Sadly Greengrass
has now left the series (during series 10), he has gone to live abrad where he is doing well financially!! But has come ti
star in the sister show(the royal)
Vernon Scripts
Vernon is like Claude in some ways - in that he's always on a money
making scheme , getting David to do the dirty work etc, but he stays the right side of the law and doesn't have any feuds
with any of the coppers, or any amuzing relationships with any of them yet - but it looks as if this could develop. He has
now bought Claude's house and has fitted in well.
Jackie
she comes in series 8. She is a young solicitor
who left London to move to Aidensfield, a with a keen interest in law. She is clearly good at her job and loves a challenge. Her Uncle gave her a good start into her profession
through his own firm, for which she knows she owes him a lot. Mike's romantic interest in her soon develops, and despite a
few hiccups and clashes along the way they look set to embark on a loving steady relationship. However this ideal situation
all comes crashing to the ground when she starts to have an affair with someone she meets through work. She is unhappy with
life in the police house and in the village - she feels stifled and tell Mike she's leaving him - breaking his heart. Another
emotional episode.
